In-Person Consult

On Tuesday Jenn and I helped two Clinical Counsellors conceptualize the design concept for their new office space. The office is undergoing some renovations and then will be ready for furniture and accessories. While the ladies are excited to be designing their new space, they were feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the design decisions to be made, so they hired us for an in-person consultation to help them decide on paint, furniture and accessories. Our consultation service is an onsite, 2 hour meeting where we can problem solve any design dilemmas, source furniture and come up with an action plan to move a project forward. My assistant is on hand to take detailed notes about everything discussed during the consult, then the notes are emailed after the meeting so the client can reference it. This service is the first step to working with us on a project, but it is also a stand alone service for the homeowner/business owner who wants to handle the project on their own. Check out the details for this service on our website here: https://www.homestyled.ca/services

Instax Mini Camera

I got this camera for Christmas and I have been having so much fun with it! It is a hybrid camera and printer all rolled into one. you can take pictures, print them out or save them digitally. There is also an app that allows you to print images from your phone. It has been a big hit with the teen crowd as well, and we have taken a volleyball team photo on it at every tournament so far this year. I bought this handy little case to protect the camera and make it easy to tote around. I am in love with this fun new gadget!

New Quilt From Homesense

I always joke that shopping for clients is an occupational hazard because I always end up finding things for myself that I can't pass up on. This happened at a recent Homesense shopping trip where I was shopping for a client project. I came across a quilt and pillow sham set that I fell in love with and bought for my bedroom. It is the perfect pop of pattern and color at the end of my bed and I love how it coordinates with my rug, curtains and artwork! Such a score.

No Demo Reno

I had heard of this HGTV show and I follow Jenn Todryk on instagram but I had never watched an episode before. I started watching the 3rd season through my Discovery+ subscription and I was instantly hooked! Jenn is a talented designer in the Dallas area and she transforms rooms - lot's of kitchens and bathrooms - without making any structural changes and the transformation is always amazing. She focuses on surface changes like new cabinets, fixtures, tile and paint, mostly using the existing footprint and then she takes it to the next level with styling and furniture. I have now watched 2 seasons and I am a big fan. Plus Jenn herself is kind, warm and has a great sense of humor. This show is a 10 out of 10 for me!

Setting Myself Up For Success

I have been on a quest to commit to a healthier, more productive morning routine, and have been doing pretty well since mid-January. When I am home (I've been travelling a lot lately!) I wake up at 6:30, make my bed, put on work-out clothes, then make a coffee. I allow mysefl some "wake-up" time and while I have my coffee I read a book or a blog for inspiration. At 7:30 I strap on my weighted vest, my fanny pack and whatever outerwear is appropriate that day. Then I leash up my walking buddy Ginger and we hit the road for at least 30 minutes. We are lucky to have some trails within 10 minutes of our home, so we have been ending up there so Ginger can have a little off-leash run around and "sniff-fari". A few times this week, I actually took both dogs out and we drove to a local dog-friendly park. I have come to look forward to these walks each morning, it has been a wonderful way to start the day.

I have created a little system to set myself up for success in the mornings. First of all, I try and lay out my work out clothes the night before. The other thing is that I keep all of my gear in the front hall closet, ready to go. I have an over the door hook system where I hang my weighted vest, my fanny pack with airpods and dog supplies, plus the dog leashes. These are simple organization systems that make my morning routine run way smoother.

That's a Wrap!

It's Friday night, and I am finishing this post from my hotel room in Victoria. I am here with my daughter and her volleyball team for a tournament. It's bedtime for me, so I am signing off!

Have a great weekend and thanks for reading!

xo, Kerri
